Is there any greater endorsement than saying you are a “repeat client?” I first worked with Scott Arnold (the owner of Arnold Masonry and Landscape) seven years ago. Not only does Scott have “an eye for design,” but also he knows how to bring that vision come to life. So, after purchasing a new home with a large backyard, we asked Scott to offer his thoughts about how best to use the space. Scott designed a 20’x30’ flagstone patio, a 12” tall wood burning fireplace with side benches and an outdoor kitchen. He worked with us to individualize the space so that it would best suit how we want to spend time there. As a Master Mason himself, Scott carefully chose all of the different types of stone for each of the separate elements so that they would slightly contrast with one another, while complementing the overall sense of design. Scott also had the brilliant idea of adding a putting green behind the chimney! The overall scope of the project also included landscape design and installation, as well as outdoor lighting (which beautifully accents the entire area at night). Scott seamlessly and strategically managed all facets of this project, including the coordination of additional vendors with whom he has established relationships to bring the project together in a cohesive way. All projects invariably face unique challenges…whether it is how to bring large amounts of material into small spaces or, as with this project, dealing with Mother Nature and managing the many different “moving parts” involved in a project of this scope. Scott has the experience and strategic competence needed not only to design and build, but also to problem solve, pivot when necessary and, all the while, being gracious and making it seem easy. When embarking on any project, finding a vendor who is an expert in his field, truly cares about his work and puts his customers first is an invaluable investment. Scott is that vendor. Scott’s crews were extremely respectful and very attentive to any requests or questions that I had throughout this entire process. They arrived on time and worked very hard. Scott was committed to communicating with us weekly (if not daily) about the plan of action, including any changes which had to be made due to prohibitive weather conditions or material sourcing issues. Scott’s approach to billing is, as he calls it, a “turnkey approach.” Whatever happened, the price did not change (unless a substantive change was requested by me which altered the cost of an element). The one last thought which I would like to impress most upon the readers of this review is Scott’s personal investment of pride in each of his projects. It is rare these days to meet a vendor who is so committed to personal service and quality craftsmanship, and whose crews not only respect him enough to also have this same vital sense of ownership in their work, but also have been with him for over 20 years!

Arnold Masonry did an A+ job with our outdoor project! We had a small flagstone patio that we wanted expanded and the final product blended the new/old stonework perfectly. We also added a stone fireplace that we couldn't be more pleased with. The owner Scott was always providing updates and his team completed the job faster than anticipated. I've never been more impressed with a contractor and the craftsmanship skills of his crew - very professional, timely, fair pricing, etc, etc. I would HIGHLY recommend this company!

We have had great success with Scott and team at Arnold Masonry. We had a botched backyard project, and Scott came in to help us fix the poor quality work done by another contractor. He took our backyard to the next level - it now looks professional and high quality. He provided us an honest opinion of what path to take, and a fair assessment of cost. The work was done quickly - as scheduled - and was done with good quality and a high level of professionalism. We recently rehired Arnold Masonry to do another stone structure in our front yard.

The entire team at ARNOLD’s MASONARY GROUP has always exhibited stellar professionalism. I worked with Dennis, and he was excellent at taking my vision and executing a wonderful and quite beautiful pondless water feature for my courtyard. Dennis and his team who designed my water feature, were simply AWESOME. Anytime I’ve had questions, they were always readily available. If you are looking to work with a group of great folks with creative visions, then I would highly recommend ARNOLD’s MASONARY GROUP!

Dependable and Professional Our second time working with Arnold Masonry. Without fail, they were timely, professional, and dependable. The hardscape previously done in our front yard matched our backyard perfectly. Scott pointed out helpful solutions to potential problems, and his crew was efficient and tidy. We wouldn't hesitate to work with them again.. We had a custom patio and chimney along with decorative walls and lighting built by Arnold Masonry and Landscape. The chimney is really great and looks just like we hoped it would! The patio is the perfect size and shape to enjoy our new stunning chimney. It feels like a piece of art in the yard. It is 90+ every day in Georgia right now but we are still burning fires at least twice a week. The project was completed in less time than we were told and they cleaned up after themselves! I am going to use Arnold for future hardscaping and masonry needs and would recommend them to anyone looking to do the same.

Scott was great to work with throughout. From the first contact to the day of finishing he was immediately responsive to calls, texts and emails. HIs advice and experience in the planning phase was key as a previous builder didn't even think about drainage, excavation or work around a spiral staircase, etc..He also took us to stone yard to pick out what we wanted and pushed back appropriately if he did not think it would work. Once building started, quality was outstanding and completely custom built by Master masons. They also edged current stairs and footings, which were not part of original agreement. Project was absolutely on time and budget with good clean up at completion. Scott came out and did final walk through once project completed and even gave us thoughts on landscaping rest of yard. We will definitely work with Scott and Arnold Masonry again on future projects and have already referred them to work associates and friends.

We were looking at three companies to improve our outdoor living space. We decided to go with ARNOLD Masonry and Landscape, and glad we did. From the very beginning of the project, Scott did a terrific job providing us with ongoing updates on status and next steps. They put together a couple of recommendations and different stone options which were all beautiful. We decided to go with a 325 sf flagstone patio with a 6f built in BBQ area. Scott and team are passionate about what they do and are true artists that will not compromise on quality. A lot of companies can put in a flagstone patio but a true mason looks at the big picture matching colors, shapes, transitions and flow of the patio as part of the backyard and that's what Scott and team do really well. We had the same crew working onsite for the entire duration of the project. Each member was very friendly and careful around our plants. They finished the project on time and within agreed on budget with no surprises but most importantly, they delivered way beyond our expectations. We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE our new patio and recommend Scott and his team without hesitation!

Everything went extremely well. We loved Scott from the first time he came out to measure until his crew returned to clean up the project site. Everyone was professional and courteous throughout the process. The project stayed on schedule and on budget and the final result looks even better than we had anticipated! We would highly recommend Scott and his team!
Description of work:
We had an outdoor fireplace made of Tennessee Fieldstone placed on the edge of our deck. From the minute we called arnold masonry we were impressed by their professionalism. The owner (Scott) came out within a week to consult with my husband and I about the placement of the fieldstone chimney and the different design options that would work well for our backyard and for our budget. The construction crew then arrived 2 days later just as Scott promised. They were also very professional and hard working (and very patient with our dog and kids who came to check on them quite often). The construction went extremely well. After only 5 days of work, we now have an entirely different looking backyard. We love the fireplace because it gives the backyard an anchor without being too dominating. Scott definitely was right on his consultation. We made a fire this weekend (even in the heat of August) just because we couldn't wait until the fall. The fire drew well and even my particular husband was impressed and excited by this addition. As an aside, Scott recommended that we have a mantle and a hearth and both of them were great suggestions. The mantle is a gorgeous piece of wood and a great place to stick a candle or beverage and the hearth provides seating for 2-3 adults which really was helpful because it allowed us not to have extra seating all over the deck. We would definitely hire Scott again and are looking forward to many glasses of wine on our deck! Way to go Arnold Masonry!! You have two happy customers (and new friends) that will be singing your praises this fall in Buckhead.

The project went perfectly. Exactly as planned and actually faster than I had expected. Their workers were very hard workers who are clearly experienced at what that do. The workmanship was great. Their attitudes were great. Their effort was great and they always cleaned up after each day. I am fairly hands on and they took the time to discuss progress along the way with me and explain options. They were super to work with and I would highly recommend them for your project.

This was the first time I have ever paid for a quotation for work, regardless if it is credited to the final project. The gentleman who did the quotation did not seem interested in the work. Continued to tell me everything he was not interested in doing or would not do or assist with resolving. Overall, not very pleased. The pricing was not only high but higher than I have ever seen even for the work he was proposing. Leads me to believe he was not interested in the job

Scott was selected among many other companies to redo our backyard. We have 3 Newfoundlands dogs (if you do not know the breed ours average 150 lbs. each...) and our backyard looked like a war zone. From our first call we knew Scott Arnold would provide excellent service as we received a prompt call back and a quick visit from him, the owner, and not some sales person with no knowledge. The entire work took less than a week, and that was FAST, and the results are excellent. The new drainage is doing an excellent job, the patio is nice, we love the lights at night. and the trees and other plants have been selected with good taste. Also, his team was not afraid of our big dogs, which for us was definitely a plus... Scott prices are more than good for the quality of the work and service but if you are hunting for a cheap bargain job he may not be the one for you. We enjoyed working with this team and I think built a good relationship with everyone. We will definitely have more work for them in the future as we are now thinking about building a custom outside grill to fit the patio. The only negative thing is that now our backyard looks so much better that we feel we may have to redo the front of the house too :=).
Description of work:
Scott was selected among many other companies to redo our backyard, including replacing all the grass and our original "cheap" builder patio, redo/build drainage system for the entire backyard with extensive use of french drains to solve HORRIBLE drainage issues we were encountering, install exterior path and ambient lights with a timer and transformer, replant our slope (which is quite large), and provide hardscape for areas around the house that were previously a "mud pit".

We ended up not hiring Arnold because they were much more expensive than the other bidders. We really liked them and felt confident that they would have done a superior job. If our house/neighborhood were more expensive -- and we thought we could get the value out -- we would definitely have gone with them. They were extremely professional/knowledgeable/courteous, and they gave us the most confidence they knew what they were doing. We just couldn't justify paying so much more than the other bidders. If you have a high-end home and are looking for a first-class operation, I would recommend these guys for sure.

Scott was on-time, professional, and took all of the time needed to have a conversation in understanding what we want to accomplish. We have met with several (4+) companies in our diligence phase and Arnold has been the most impressive on many levels. First off, it was surprising how many companies in the hardscape/landscape space simply take orders. Scott was one of the few that listened to our plan, then provided his guidance and suggestions based on experience with situational relevance. Additionally he had pictures to give us an idea of how it would look. His guidance, coupled with the pictures gave us the context we needed to have a clear conversation and education of the process. As others have stated, Arnold is not the least expensive option, but based on the quality interactions, and the portfolio they have to date, the pricing appears aligned with the perceived quality. Another element is his tenure in business in the same area, with a solid body of work that he can show. I am looking forward to continuing the conversation with Arnold about next steps.

My husband and I had been searching for a company to renovate our basement for over a year. What we envisioned was not the typical sheetrock and carpet basement. We met with Scott and went through our ideas along with photos and looked through Arnold Masonry portfolios. We desired a richer feel which involved brick and stone and Travertine, etc, as well as specific woods and a wine cellar. A bar and a mural were added with textured walls as well. An amazing transformation which surpassed our original thoughts and vision. Arnold Masonry was not the least expensive yet we have found that you really cannot compare pricing to final product in that business. Without a doubt, we made the best choice and highly recommend them. Thank you for a delightful experience, look forward to working together in the future.

An awesome company. The first thought that popped into my mind. Scott and his crews are the best in what they do and their approach and customer service is top notch. Scott and his foremen were always there for us, whether through phone, email, or in person, to answer all questions and to provide info that we didn't even ask for. The design approach was great fun and we learned so much.

My project wasn as large as many of the projects I saw on his web site portfolio, yet it is obvious to us that they did not cut any corners and the workmanship is…..awesome! A couple of stone and brick patios with surrounding walls that included lattice brick work to create a very private courtyard with a really neat firepit and wrought iron fencing surrounding my new pool deck and coping. They also built some really interesting brick and stone benches and helped us by hanging a wall fountain. Thanks, Scott and company! All of our friends Love our new private party pad.

Update on 10/24/11.
Several attempts to solve quality and poor workmanship problems have been ridiculed and minimzed Scott Arnold. One of the problems brought up to Scott Arnold was a water feature loosing 20 gallons of water in a span of 24 hours Scott Arnold refuses to address the problem and has actually accused us of modifying the water feature. Stay tuned as we post more issues ridiculed by Scott Arnold. Joe and Regina Cumming. Ga.
==================================================================================Once we finally decided on a major hardscape project in our back yard we searched for 3 years to find a professional to create the exact look we wanted for our patio. Our plan evolved to include a fire pit, water feature, brick retaining wall and a blue stone floor. We knew what we wanted but no one would listen to help us create exactly what we wanted. We interviewed dozens of contractors, masons, landscapers but it was when Scott Arnold came to see us that we knew we found the perfect fit for someone to make the project come to fruition. Scott came out to see us and understood what we wanted and helped us visualize and made suggestions to help make the patio turn into the formal terrace we had been dreaming of for years. Scott Arnold is a true professional. He is a master mason and his staff was on time and the project was completed in a very timely manner with a thorough clean up afterword. What we did not count on was Scott's desire to attain perfection with this project. He was aware of flaws a layman would not be, but made us aware of them and made corrections. Scott followed up after the project to make sure the water feature was functioning properly and all was to our satisfaction. Scott made sure every detail was perfect We highly recommend Arnold Masonry as we know there are few companies out there that have such high standards of work ethic and quality. Joe and Regina Cumming, Ga.

We are so thrilled with our new outdoor entertaining area that Scott and his crew designed and installed. It?s absolutely stunning! We contacted Scott in early November to discuss options for our backyard make-over. He came out to our house on a Saturday with his landscaper/water feature expert, Dennis. After discussing what we had in mind, Scott was kind enough to let us visit his home to see his work in person as well as a job he had just completed in Atlanta. He was quick with getting us a full turn-key quote and within the next week construction was underway!! Scott was the ultimate professional and communicated every step of the project with us as far as scheduling and the installation process. The end result is a spectacular 800+ square foot crab orchard flagstone patio which includes walkways and stone steps , a beautifully crafted 9? crab orchard fireplace (which is truly a work of art) and a pondless elevated water feature that makes the whole living space feel unbelievably tranquil. Scott also removed our existing deck staircase and constructed a new stairway with two landings to connect to our new patio. The project was finished off with beautiful landscaping and low voltage night lighting that creates such a warm and inviting ambiance to the entire living space. We can?t wait to have all our friends over for a BBQ and show off our new space! Thank you Scott and the rest of the crew at Arnold Masonry for creating a fabulous space we will thoroughly enjoy for years and years to come!!

** Six Month Follow-Up Review**
This is a follow-up to my original review of Arnold Masonry and Concrete. Back in November, Scott and his crew designed and installed an outdoor entertaining area for us. As with any home improvement project, unforseen issues can arise. Six months after the project was finished, we contacted Scott to go over some of these concerns that we were experiencing with our back patio and water feature. Scott and his crew promptly assessed our concerns, and a few days later Scott scheduled his crew to come over and fix the drainage issue we were having on our patio as well as reline our waterfall (which was leaking due to a rodent eating through the liner). He stands behind his product and workmanship, and I always received follow-up emails after the work was completed. Thanks so much, Scott!

Installation of 800+ sq ft flagstone patio with walkways/stone steps 3. Also included was removing an existing center post under our deck which obstructed our view. An additional 2x12 board was fasted with lag bolts on the exterior of deck band. 4. Construction of a new pondless water feature with two streams which meet to form a solid stream and single waterfall. Waterfall was landscaped with perennials and a Red Japanese Maple. 5. Construction of a 9' tall brown crab orchard chimney with two wing wall off of each side of the chimney. Low voltage light boxes were placed at the center of each wall. 6. Scott, the owner of Arnold, Masonry and Concrete designed, created and built a gorgeous new multi-level outdoor living area for us. We are very impressed with his professionalism, reliability and creativity. Scott was hands on during the entire project and always available to answer questions and offer suggestions. The estimate was very reasonable and there were no hidden costs. The project moved along seamlessly and was completed when promised. Scott's design included a complete renovation of our old back deck measuring 45' x 14'. One end measuring 14' x 18' was transformed into a covered open air room complete with gorgeous stone columns and stone arches. One wall is solid stone with architectural candle niches and a beautiful ventless gas fireplace. The ceiling is vaulted with stained V-groove pine. Electrical, cable and gas were run and Scott even installed our TV above the fireplace. The new elevated patio is about 11' off the ground so he came up with a frame design to handle the weight and used synthetic stone instead of heavy real stone. The stone looks so amazingly real that no one can tell the difference! The floor of the elevated patio, included the covered living area, is finished in a stunning 16" x 24" Kund Slate. They also constructed stone columns along the whole outside with a decorative steel railing in black and an impressive stone built-in grill. Scott suggested that we go with a custom built spiral steel staircase in black. We are so happy with the end result. Architecturally it looks amazing and really adds to the WOW factor of entire project! They finished the underside of the elevated patio with can lights, fans and a wood ceiling. The ground level patio is finished in brown Crab Orchard flagstone. So we now have a completely finished ground level outdoor living area also. They painted the exterior of the house and installed new gutters. Scott recommended going with a deep bronze gutter to replace our painted white gutters and painting the shutters, doors and columns underneath to match the new gutters. What a transformation! The Landscaping is next on the list and we are excited that Scott is handling this for us as well. He has come up with an amazing landscape plan that will compliment our new outdoor living areas. If Kudzu would allow pictures I would love to post some, since the project in itself and the transformation of the whole house is astounding! I hope to see some on their website. Our friends and neighbors are so impressed with the project and transformation that several have already contacted Scott. We are so pleased with the end result- it could be featured in Architectural Digest! We highly recommend Scott and his firm and look forward to using them in the future for any exterior or interior projects. Thank you Scott and AM&C - you far exceeded our expectations!

During this Covid time we thought about changing our large, newly stained deck and sizable yard to stone work and a covered patio area with seating, dining and an outdoor kitchen. A place where family and friends could come together large and small. We had Scott come out for a look. He actually recommended some smaller jobs vs the very large one. His ideas were spot on. We really appreciated the advice and honesty. He truly consulted with us to get on a path towards our long term vision. Other companies may not have made that choice, the right thing for the customer. Once we made the decision to move forward, it could not have gone any better. We value what all do in a company - consistent communication and expectations, executed on time and on budget, a hard working and respectful crew (to all in the house), and with high quality materials and craftsmanship. It seems so simple and yet so many fall so very short. Scott Arnold and his team delivered on all. It could not have been a better experience with a better outcome. We highly recommend Arnold Masonry and Landscaping. We will be using them for our next planned project building out paradise in our backyard.

Arnold Masonry and Landscape When looking for a company that could assist me in creating a breathtaking fire pit area in my backyard, I decided to search in two arenas, first on Angie's list and then through friends and word of mouth recommendations. One company surfaced twice in the research and it was Arnold Masonry in regards to aesthetic results and highly rated reviews from their clients. I would like to share how the project progressed: Our first appointment included Scott reviewing the layout of my back yard and what I wanted to create. He gave me options and suggested additional items to make the result more aesthetically beautiful. I appreciate Scott because he took enough time to ask specific questions that were driven from his expertise and standards of excellence. Within a short time frame I received a proposal that was specific in regards to cost, payment and time frames. I asked Scott for another option....again a very quick response. Once the proposal was accepted ..we began the construction process. The first day was a long day for the craftsmen. It took them several hours to create and pour the base of the fire pit area. The second day the stone work began...and day two it was completed. One final clean up day included an acid wash of the stone work and finishing touches to surrounding areas. Throughout the process Scott kept me up to date on the progress of the project and asked for my feedback constantly. I was delighted to meet his son Joe on the final day of construction. Joe is a great representative for this company and is as passionate as his father is in regards to the work they do for you as their client. Thank you for a job well done.

Our experience working with Scott and his team at Arnold Masonry could not have been better. We were spinning our wheels with a couple of other companies, going back and forth on quotes, details, etc. until we found Arnold Masonry. Scott responded to our email inquiry very quickly and we set a meeting. Within ONE day after our meeting, Scott sent us a comprehensive estimate, full of details, pricing and materials to be used. We hired them soon after and felt very confident and trusting in their ability to execute our vision. Scott & his team completely over delivered in every way. Our only regret was not finding Arnold Masonry months earlier than we did. I have included details on our project below to provide an idea of what they did to change our backyard from a bland, wet, space of spotty fescue grass to a beautiful, functional, efficient space.
Description of work:
Scott & his team completely transformed our backyard. They constructed two beautiful flagstone patios connected by several large natural stone steppers with boulders on each side and ground cover in between. The upper patio included a custom built in gas grill enclosure with natural stone to complement the backside of an existing stone fireplace. The lower patio allows us to enter the backyard from our basement easily and provides us a place to sit, relax and enjoy our backyard with our kids. This lower patio also includes a new drip irrigation line to water plants that we will soon place in pots down there. The southwest corner of our backyard was a complete muddy mess with multiple irrigation heads, a low grade and several small trees & bushes that looked tired. Scott & Dennis turned it from the worst part of our yard into one of the highlights. They installed a new french drain to decrease the moisture, built a thick, solid wood enclosure for our kids new play set, cleaned out the entire play set enclosure and filled the entire area with a fine, dark brown walnut mulch. Adjacent to the play set area, they built two vegetable garden boxes made from cedar wood. In addition to all of the items they constructed, they also greatly enhanced the landscape design of our backyard. They recommended we take down a dying silver maple and referred us to a great tree removal expert (DJ at Atlanta Tree Professionals). Now residing in place of that tree is an amazing assortment of plants amid thick pine straw. They increased the efficiency of our existing irrigation system (9 zones and over 50 heads) and either kept, capped, moved or replaced any heads to compliment our new backyard configuration. Additional plants were placed in previously empty spots. We were so pleased with their work that we plan to meet with them in the Spring to potentially plant perennials, add some outdoor lighting and add a custom rock border to some plant beds.

From my first meeting with Scott Arnold (the owner of Arnold Masonry and Landscape) to discuss the various components of what was going to be a very large backyard renovation, Scott instilled in me a sense of confidence that he indeed had the experience and competence needed to execute and manage the many different ?moving parts? involved in my project. Before meeting Scott, I interviewed four other contractors, none of whom seemed comfortable taking on this size project. But, true to his word, four weeks after starting demolition, my kids and I are enjoying our new backyard! As part of the overall scope of the project, Scott took the time to evaluate (and, honestly, improve upon) existing plans prepared for me by a Landscape Architect. Scott has a sixth sense about the placement of hardscape, as well as landscape, elements which combine together to create a seamless and very effective outdoor living space; he truly did make ?my vision? come to life. His crews moved retaining walls and replaced them with a graduated, landscaped hill that now has beautiful hand-selected boulders and a new and recessed stacked stone wall; he replaced a square and boring tile patio with a much larger, two tier, sculpted flagstone patio, a 12? stone chimney (designed by Scott himself, with an inset stone detail that makes my chimney unique to my backyard alone) and a built-in kitchen; he added a masonry fire pit and demi-lunar masonry bench to anchor the opposite side of the backyard. Scott carefully chose all of the different types of stone for each of the elements so that they would slightly contrast with one another, while complementing the overall sense of design. His landscape crew added the refinement of perennials which were carefully placed around the entire backyard and, then, finished the landscaping with sophisticated night lighting. To finish the backyard area, Scott designed and built a beautiful cedar pavilion with a medal roof which wraps around the chimney. The result is stunning; however, the devil is in the details?isn't it. Taking on these details, Scott?s landscape crew carefully measured the grade of my backyard and landscaped hill so as to ensure that drainage would not be an issue. After completion of the project and following a late summer thunderstorm deluge, we decided that the French drain which had been installed needed to be extended by 12 feet to properly manage the drainage issue. This alteration was made at no change in cost to the overall project (which highlights a point made in other reviews and which I will address below). Because access to my backyard was limited by space, the crews needed to drive a bobcat across my front yard (for several weeks) in order to carry the materials to and properly grade my backyard. Impressively, Scott thought about this is advance and included the cost of repair to my front yard with his estimate of the overall project, as opposed to ?tacking it on? as ?an extra? at the end. Personally, Scott and his crews were extremely respectful and very attentive to any requests or questions that I or my kids had throughout this entire process. They arrived on time and worked very hard. Scott was very communicative about the weekly (if not daily) plan of action, as well as any changes which had to be made due to prohibitive weather conditions. The parade of curious neighbors through my backyard has prompted many an unsolicited comment, from being amazed at the scope of the work which was completed within a four week period, to the undeniable quality of the work. Scott?s approach to billing is, as he calls it, a ?turnkey approach.? He was the only one of the vendors whom I interviewed to offer me a flat fee for the project. Whatever happened, the price did not change (unless a change was requested by me which altered the cost of an element?and, even then, a few de minimis extras just seemed to appear as if by magic). The one last thought which I would like to impress most upon the readers of this review is Scott?s personal investment of pride in each of his projects. It is rare these days to meet a vendor who is so committed to personal service and quality craftsmanship, and whose crews respect him enough to also have this vital sense of ownership in their work. Thank you, Scott, for making this so easy
Description of work:

We liked that this company works from a contract not just an estimate, so you can be confident that the price is the price. After going through this project we now have a new appreciation for the custom work this company does. They took the time to properly grad the yard prior to pouring the concrete for the patio which ensured our patio would be level, but that it would also drain properly on our slightly sloped yard. The large amount of attention and precision given to shaping the patio stones and especially the fireplace stones was incredible. For the chimney, they started with rocks the size of footballs and then preceeded to hand chip each one so that it perfectly fit together to create a beautiful custom chimney. They paid attention to the small details that added a finishing touch to the patio like putting mortar around the sides of the patio so that you couldn't see where the concrete stopped and patio started. They use a thick concrete foundation and thick flagstone, so the quality is very good.
The second part of our project was the landscaping work around the patio. We had 8 tandums of dirt brought in which they graded in a strategic way to allow for water to properly drain down the left, middle and right sides of the yard. Initially, we had not thought about putting in an irrigation system, however WE ARE SO GLAD WE DIDI!!!. Based on the company's recomendation we decided to add an irrigation system and now we can't imagine not having one. If you are contemplating an irrigation system, please take our advice and put one in. You don't want to be running around your beautiful new yard moving sprinklers! One thing I would recommend is that when they trench your yard and lay the pipes you should take the time to take pictures so you know where all of the pipes are laid in case you ever have to make repairs. Once we tested our irrigation system's pressure we realized that the water pressure in the back of the house was not enough to support our yard, so they trenched around to the front spout instead. Our price was not affected by the additional work required to trench to the front of the yard because they were committed to doing what was best for our system. Once the irrigation system was in, they graded the dirt and then laid the sod. A couple of days after they finished the sod, we had a very heavy rain storm which caused a 5 inch deep, 6 feet long trench in the yard where the soil beneath the sod had washed away. We were initally disappointed that this happended to our brand new yard, but one phone call to the landscaper and he made time to come out the same day and give us suggestions for how to fix it and how to prevent it from happening again. This company is truly committed to customer satisfaction. They were in constant communication with us during the whole project and even when weather caused delays in our timeline, they were giving us daily updates as what we should expect. We had mulitple in-person visits from the owner of the company to ensure that everything was going well and they were constantly asking us if we were happy with the progress being made with our project. We highlly recommend Arnold Masonry & Landscape and we will definitely use them again when we decide to add plants and lighting to our backyard.
Description of work:
Our project involved a 23x23 hardscape patio with 6.5 ft chimney as well as a landscape project that required 8 tandums of dirt, grading, irrigation and sod for a slightly sloped backyard area about 80x105. From the moment we contacted Arnold Masonry & Landscape until the very end of our project, we were thoroughly impressed by the company's responsiveness, professionalism, dedication to our happiness and overall quality of work.

Very happy with the project! Before meeting with Scott, I had talked to a landscaper who basically listened to my ideas for a front walkway and told me "sure, we can do that!" Thankfully something told me this person was just telling me what I wanted to hear. Scott explained that what I wanted to do may look great in a picture, but would not last on my sloped lot, explained why, and proposed a solution that I am very happy with - a beautiful flagstone walkway. My job required leveling and widening parts of the walkway, and it turned out great. As soon as the budget allows, I plan to ask Scott to replace my old concrete back patio with the same flagstone he used for the front. His prices are not the lowest, but I have learned you absolutely get what you pay for: be wary of landscapers that claim to do it all - if you want stone work done, go with the professionals!

We originally searched Angie's list for potential contractors, and found that Arnold Masonry had excellent reviews. Made contact with Scott the owner, who was punctual, courteous and very knowledgeable and helpful. He had very good ideas and gave us several things to think about. We researched other projects they had done, and were impressed with the imagination and quality, so scheduled a second meeting. At this meeting WE began to add more to the project, causing several re-quotes...all of which were done in a timely manner. We decided to go with Scott for the project based on what we felt was a fair price given the scope of work required. The crew arrived when he said, and were extremely courteous and professional. They worked several long days, and completed the project in about 6 days out of the 7 projected. We are thrilled with how it all turned out! Scott was very clear in letting us know the heavier equipment would tear up part of our yard, but we both agreed on the path the equipment would take...so there were no surprises. They did in fact grade and re-seed what was affected. If you are going to do a project requiring a bobcat etc, make sure you clearly understand the path and potential impact on your yard. I felt they were very honest and accurate in assessing this for us. We would highly recommend them for their quality of work.
Description of work:

The project included some stone patios with brick borders on top of a concrete base. They explained to us different structural reasons for doing certain parts of the project which the other companies did not. We wanted some tiered walls with night lighting. We also had them include a stone fireplace which we really love. We were thinking of a pond before we met with them, but decided to go with a pondless water feature. We wanted the sound and sights, but not a lot of upkeep and they explained all of this too. The final landscape part of the project we had them include which is very pretty and included lots of perennials and plants and some trees. We highly recomend them for projects that are more detailed, as ours was. They are very knowledgeable and talented in everything they do and they gave us one contratc price which never changed. We have two friends who had their prices for their projects change at the end, We were concerned yet very confident in this company and could not be happier with the whole experience. Elaine Wallace
Description of work:
We had met with several companies who we felt would be able to create a more beautiful and functional backyard. We had ideas we had found on sites on the internet and also from some of our friend's homes. Meeting with Arnold Masonry and Concrete, we felt most comfortable with how they presented themselves and also how they listened to us and took our ideas and then described their ideas too. They used photos from their portfolios along with ones we gave them and came up with the complete yard project.

The folks from Arnold's were fantastic to work with. They helped with brainstrorming the original design based on our initial thoughts. They made great suggestions and recommendations about what would work and could work better. The design process was key to a great project. After design, the committed to a start and completion date for the entire project. The team that did the work was professional and worked diligently to complete the project on time and with attention to detail. When the work was done, everything was packed-up and you could hardly tell that anyone had been there.

We were totally thrilled with Scott and Arnold Masonry and Concrete during the phases of our 2 and a half month project. Scott is a true craftsman, an artist with a fabulous eye for quality, detail and style. His numerous suggestions for improving the remodel of our entire home has clearly been the differentiating input between a nice job and and absolutely spectacular job. Our remodeling project has been professionally handled from beginning to end, from the initial design approach, to discussing and finalizing each phase of our remodel, to working with such a talented craftsman. We look forward to moving on to the next phase of our project with your same motivated team.
Description of work:
Our multi-phased project included a new driveway and stone retaining wall, replacing an existing concrete patio with a larger stone entertainment area including a water feature and BBQ grill, remodeling the kitchen and a guest bathroom. It was quite a large project and although price was important...what was more important to us was finding a company that had a history of possessing the knowledge and ability to create unique projects and also a company that we could trust..

My wife and I wanted to brick the exterior of our 26 year old cedar frame contemporary ranch home and replace the soffit and fascia. After a review process with several contractors, we chose Arnold Masonry and Concrete for the job. Although not the lowest bidder, we felt most comfortable with his reviews and his performance in our interviewing process. As the project began, and progress made, we never looked back. Based on the early completion of wonderful exterior masonry work, our project evolved into a complete exterior overhaul. Each of the jobs were completed on time (or earlier), and the work was outstanding. The workers were courteous, prompt, and very good at their respective crafts. We were truly impressed with the attention to detail, and the professionalism of everyone involved. Scott was on-site almost every day, and was a joy to work with. He provided several creative ideas along the way that proved to be very nice touches to our existing plans. After the exterior was complete, we were so pleased with the work that we continued with more remodeling to the inside of our home. Scott remodelled a bathroom and existing interior fireplace, and painted the entire interior as well. We couldn't be happier with the outcome. We never intended to do all of this work with one contractor. However, the initial work and the on-going favorable experience was excellant. Scott's demonstrated performance gave us the confiedence to take the project further. Everything about the work (material selection & work) was quality. No cutting corners. I would certainly recommend Arnold Masonry and Concrete to anyone who; (1is looking for quality masonry work (and other remodelling work as well), (2) a contractor who carefully monitors the progress of his work, and (3) takes personal pride/interest in satisfying a customer. The entire project was completed in approximately 10 weeks which was simply amazing to my wife and despite some rainy weather along the way. Scott may not be the cheapest in town but you will certainly be satisfied with the quality of his work. This is exactly what my wife and I were looking for, and concerned about the most. We have been pleasured by many fine compliments by our neighbors within our subdivision, and family members as well. Most of all, we are very pleased ourselves. I would recommend Scott to the best of my friends. Thanks Scott!

The bottom line is that Scott Arnold and all the different crews of Arnold Masonry and Concrete are professional and understand how to satisfy their customers. Honestly, I am not the easiest client to work with in that my expectations are very high for the work done by a contractor I hire and my expectation of the highest level of professionalism in doing their job. Prior to hiring Arnold Masonry and Concrete, I investigated and interviewed 5 other contractors who had either been recommended by someone I know or who had a number of positive reviews on sites like Angie's List. Whenever I expressed any question or concerns to Scott or the leader of his crews, Scott would call me or come by, LISTEN, and patiently address my question or concern to my satisfaction. Through the process I learned to trust Scott and understand that in the end only my complete satisfaction mattered to him. I have never done a renovation project that did not come with its share of unexpected surprises and it is during these moments that you learn who your contractor is. I can say without any hesitation that you will be happy if you hire Arnold Masonry and Concrete for your next project and I will be hiring them again in 2011.
Description of work:
Arnold Masonry and Concrete recently completed phase the 2nd of a 3 phase project to renovate my backyard. The first phase of the project took a large, sloped, muddy backyard and graded it into two levels with a granite block retaining wall dividing the two levels. No other company I investigated would build such an wall that would match my foundation that was common place in homes like mine that were built in the 50's and 60's. On the upper portion of the yard, they poured a 1600 sq ft concrete slab that would be the foundation for the second phase installation of PA Blue Flagstone. Between the upper level and the lower level in the middle of the wall they installed a concrete ramp in lieu of stairs to make it easy and safer to get from the upper level to the lower level. The concrete was reinforced in the right places with rebar and extra concrete to support the third phase.
About 10 months after completing the initial phase, Arnold Masonry and Concrete came back and completed the second phase of my backyard renovation project. This involved installing 1600 sq ft of irregular PA Blue Flagstone as an outdoor patio area, with walkways, and a ramp to the lower level of my yard. As was with the previous phase, the quality of the work was exceptional. Not only am I satisfied with the work but my neighbors have also commented on now nice the patio looks from their property.
Arnold Masonry and Concrete will come back in 2011 and complete the project by installing stacked stone walls, an outdoor cooking area with my BBQ grill built in, an outdoor fireplace, and possibly a water feature. This will not only involve masonry work but I have will low voltage lighting installed to accent the patio and walls for visibility while entertaining at night.

We highly recommend Arnold Masonry and Landscape for your hardscape projects. To address some very muddy areas in our backyard we wanted a patio and rock garden as well as installing rock steps in a few areas. We only had a vague idea of how these should look and Scott was very helpful in design and material suggestions. We were very impressed with his knowledge and experience and were not disappointed. Our project turned out better than we hoped. He used stone and rock that blended beautifully in with our existing landscaping. His team was very polite and professional and completed the project ahead of schedule. We are extremely pleased with the quality and beauty of our new hardscape.

Thrilled with this Company We employed Arnold Masonry recently and were very pleased with the results. We called several masonry contractors when we decided to redo our patio, a fairly large project. We were very impressed with Scott Arnold of Arnold Masonry. He was not only businesslike and professional but also understood the aesthetics of the project; we ultimately went with a Pennsylvania Bluestone patio. The original patio had sunk so they installed a new concrete and steel foundation and then installed the Bluestone on top of that. It is a beautiful courtyard and the symmetry and colors are perfect. He sent us a carefully detailed quotation of the costs, which considering the size of the project seemed reasonable. His crew began promptly and were very hard-working and skilled. Any concerns or questions we had were addressed quickly. Everyone was co-operative and courteous. The finished product is gorgeous. It was a pleasure working with Scott and his crew. We would be glad to recommend Arnold Masonry and Landscape to anyone considering all types of masonry and hardscape projects.

Scott Arnold is the ultimate masonry design and build professional. Scott responded to us promptly and was flexible with design ideas until we determined an ultimate design for our project. The masons on Scott's team were polite, careful, neat and hardworking. The project site was cleaned up at the end of each day. The finished fireplace stone and design blends in perfectly with our surrounding terrace and pool area.... It looks like it has always been there! Our new fireplace has created a WOW focal point to our already beautiful home! The resale value of our home has probably increased by more than the project cost. We will enjoy our new fireplace all year long and look forward to entertaining and showing it off to our guests!

This is the second time we hired ARNOLD Masonry and Landscape within 12 months. Again, they did a wonderful job and exceeded our expectations. The stone work, landscaping and lighting really completed our backyard. They installed a crab orchard rock border around all of our backyard beds, replaced a significant amount of pine straw beds with mulch and installed lighting around our rock walkway. We are glad that we listened to Scott and went forward with the outdoor lighting as it provides a nice added element. Dennis always does a great job listening to our preferences and provides useful insight when selecting various plants, trees, flowers, etc. We intend to hire them again in the Spring to finish out the final stages of our yard. They are always professional, fast, efficient and on budget. I would recommend ARNOLD Masonry and Landscape to anyone with outdoor hardscape and landscape needs.

From our first meeting with Scott everything was handled very professionally and promptly. Scott guided us to his suppliers so that we could pick out the exact type of blue stone and brick that was going to be used in our project. Even the suppliers had wonderful comments about Scott and his team. Scott's design sense was also very good and he gave us exact drawings of the fireplace. He made sure we knew about each detail and involved us in the design process. Every day the crew arrived on time. They were incredible craftsmen and even my children marveled at how they cut and placed each stone exactly where it was supposed to fit into the large patio. The crew was very polite and also left the work site clean at the end of each day. The entire project was completed in 5 days. The time management was excellent. Upon completion Scott reviewed the work and made sure our expectations had been met. He is very customer oriented and I cannot say enough good things about his team. We love our new outdoor living space and look forward to using it all the time. I would highly recommend Arnold Masonry and Landscape to anyone looking for quality workmanship.

Scott Arnold and his crew were great! Scott came up with a great idea for our very old and run down back patio. He listened to everything we were interested in and all of our concerns. As soon as we decided to move forward; Scott made things happen quickly. His crew was on time everyday and so kind and professional. They always let us know their schedule of what days they would be there or if they were not able to be there. They worked late one night to make sure the concrete was ready. His crew left the property clean every night. We had rain a couple of days so his crew worked on Saturday to make up for the lost days. The project was completed much quicker than we had anticipated which was great. Scott was always checking in with us to make sure we were happy with how the project was progressing. At the end; he met with us to look everything over and make sure we were happy. His crew cleaned up everything for us and left the area very nice. We are so happy with how it all looks and now have an extra outdoor living area that we can enjoy! We will definitely use them in the future for other projects and highly recommend them. I also have to say that I was fascinated by the way his crew built the stone wall and fireplace. It is truly a piece of art. They take every piece of stone and chisel it create the the perfect stone for the spot they are working on. It was fun to watch as it went along. Thank you Scott!

Be aware that they have a $5000 minimum before calling. They said our job was too small, and as I explained we would also need a quote for a large outdoor kitchen as well, I was hung up on. Incredibly rude. We'll take our project to a company who will appreciate the business.

We needed help figuring out how to redesign a back grill area. He came out and really didn’t listen to what we needed. He said he would show us more pictures, but he didn’t follow up. He told me go online to see photos, but I couldn’t find them. He basically just told me to imagine what things would look like. He didn’t provide us with a concrete vision or physical design. I told him he owed me a design, but he claimed that he didn’t owe me one. Overall, he was just a jerk throughout the whole experience. I got the impression it wasn’t a big enough job for him. I feel like the consolation should have been free. I do not recommend them.

The process was as smooth as we could have hoped! Scott met with us initially to discuss the project and come up with ideas. We then went back and fourth until we had come up with a scope and price we all agreed with. Once we gave him the green light, the project started right away. He said it would take two weeks to complete the work, but it barely took one! The crew were very polite and tidy. The backyard was left in the same condition they found it, with the exception of a beautiful patio and fireplace.

Project could not have gone more smoothly. From the first consult, where Scott (the owner) listened to all of our concerns and needs, to the design phase where drawings and quotes were provided (with multiple options to choose from) and on through the entire construction phase, everything was handled efficiently and professionally. Scott's team of workers showed up daily on time and worked non-stop despite difficult weather conditions. Scott communicated to us daily about any schedule changes, letting us know when to expect the workers to arrive, what they would be doing, and answer any questions we might have. He made sure that we met and talked personally with the landscape professional about the artificial turf options and other planting needs as well as with the electrician who handled the installation of the new lighting.
We were astounded at how quickly a project of this size and scope could be completed. Other than the weather, there simply were no glitches.
Description of work:
Provider completely transformed our backyard which thanks to years of rain and two very large and playful dogs looked more like a swamp than a back yard. Scott and his team designed a gorgeous fieldstone patio with a firepit, installed a coordinating walkway and replaced several beds in the yard with a beautiful river rock and, where needed, new plantings. He also installed a natural looking artificial turf in the backyard to avoid having to do any lawn maintenance at all. In addition, Scott designed and installed perfect deck and backyard lighting to complement the newly installed areas.

Scott Arnold and team were extremely professional. He helped design the patio and fireplace with suggestions on stone and construction. His installation team took great care with the placing of the stones which takes a level of artistry. They were extremely accommodating when asked questions and changes requested. They promised the job to be complete the second week of September and beat that date by a week. We had people coming over for Labor Day weekend and Scott made sure we had the patio to entertain on. We are very happy with the end results. We plan to use Arnold Masonry to extend the patio and build a pool in the next couple of years.

That turned out well too. Him and three other colleagues showed up on time and looked at my landscape and hardscape needs. They gave me some information that helped me with my planning. They gave me a price for doing some of the work. I think that they were very creative and seemed to have a lot of knowledge in the area of business that they are in. They had a lot of good ideas. I plan on taking advantage of his skills next year. I had no idea going in, how much everything was going to cost. I have had to put things off a year so that I could collect the money to do it.

We are SO happy with this company! We deliberated for a couple years on what we really wanted to do. We met with 3 companies. We did a lot of research and were blown away by the projects ARNOLD Masonry had in their portfolios along with being in business for so long. Meeting with Scott ( who is the owner) made us feel at ease. They are VERY organized and neat ( which is important to me). They communicate very well and answered all my questions. We are busy with our own business and it was so nice to not be bothered with so many questions or problems as some of my friends have experienced with their contractors. They worked within our budget and although not being the cheapest ( or the most expensive) we received exactly what we wanted- professionalism and service and a backyard that we are proud of. It was a breeze, or at least they made it that way! We join what we have read to be many happy clients of theirs here on Angie?s List. We did see that Angie?s List allows people who are not clients to leave negative reviews which is the one thing we feel Angie?s List should change. It would be like my leaving a bad review for a Dentist that I never used but didn't like his prices. We'd recommend to everyone to read the reviews from their actual clients since we are an actual client and they, in our book, are the best!Thank you, ARNOLD Masonry and Concrete for amazing work , professional attitudes and service!
Description of work:
We had ARNOLD Masonry design and build for us an amazing new hardscape and landscape project that included several tiered patios and boulder steps, a focal point fireplace, outdoor kitchen with a grill, refrigerator, sink, cabinets and ice maker and a water feature with a couple of streams and waterfalls. We also had a pergola constructed in one area which looks amazing and fits in great with all of the stone work . Once we finished with that portion of the project we used them for the landscaping as well which included an irrigation system and all new sod, a lot of planting beds with shrubs and trees ( some I never have seen before but they look gorgeous). They also recommended a night lighting layout which we decided to go with and are so happy we did. What a relaxing view at night!

Good experience with initial contact and scheduling appointment. Scott was prompt, courteous and professional. Not sure if our expectations of project cost were unrealistic, or if Arnold's price was truly high...time will tell!
Description of work:
We bought a daily deal ($25) to get an estimate for hardscape work in our yard. Scott came out and assessed a rotting railroad tie retaining wall and concrete and railroad tie stairs from the driveway down to the back yard. The options presented were well-thought and Arnold's portfolio of work was impressive. An estimate for the work was provided a few days later. It was clear and comprehensive. It was also a good bit more expensive than we expected the estimate to be. We have decided to look for other, less pricey alternatives.

The end results were about as expected, but the owner was apparently a poor estimator of the job costs. He complained during the course of the job that the work was more extensive than he agreed to do, but when the actual wall stone dimensions were measured, the calculated frontal area (square footage) was actualy slightly under the agreed upon amount of stone wall exposure in the quotation. I actually paid him an addendum in spite of this, though the job was almost exactly as I first presented to him. I would have expected him to honor his original quote and not press for additional funds. As a retired Chief Engineer for a large corporation, I'm not sure he knows how to properly quote a job accurately. He needs better estimating tools such as a Excel spreadsheet, etc. to help him...s

This project has been over 4 years in the making ever since Scott replaced the siding on the back of our house with stacked stone. At that time we had noticed the concrete upper pool deck was sagging quite badly and was in danger of collapsing. Scott worked with us for the next couple of years to scope out the project and give us multiple options on what could and could not be done. When we finally decided to pull the trigger on the project, Scott was meticulous about walking through everything, step by step to ensure we fully understood what was going to happen. The payment terms were fair and there was a sizable chunk left at the end to ensure everything was done before he received final payment. Having worked with Scott before, I had very high expectations which I made very clear up front. Unfortunately for Scott, my travel was very light for most of the project so he and his team had to endure endless questions from me - all handled with good humor. At the end of the day, Scott told me to trust him and it would all be beautiful. Of course it was and we are delighted with the results. The flag stone is beautiful and the flag stone coping along with new pool tile ties everything together. The new BBQ is awesome and matches the stacked stone he put in a few years ago. I really couldn't be happier and we are now contracting with Scott to re-do the back yard.

I purchased a design consultation on Angie's List because I needed to replace my existing driveway, a short retaining wall, and my front steps. I had difficulty getting in touch with the provider but did eventually set up an appointment. What was provided was nothing more than a quote for services. I told him that I had expected a bit more since this was a design consultation advertised as a reduced rate and he was very annoyed. He told me that Home Depot charges for quotes and that he was no different. His quote was actually higher than others I had received. He was very unpleasant. I did retain another company to do the work and did not have to pay for the quote. I received more upfront information from both of the other companies from which I received quotes than I received from Arnold for my design consultation. I was extremely happy with the contractor I ultimately used for my project.

!A fantastic experience!! This was for my son-in-law daughter's house. Scott designed the kitchen of her dreams! We could not be happier! The whole project was handled, as usual, with the utmost efficiency and professionalism. They turned a large modern kitchen in to a one-of-a-kind character statement There was an unexpected delay with receiving the special-ordered beams for the ceiling..but due to Mr Arnold's long-standing relationship and history with the suppliers...this company really bent over backwards to resolve the issue and get the beams there to get the job done! I always love their work...will be looking forward to the next project!

We've been in our home (roughly 3000 sq ft. home on 1/3 arce) for eight years, and decided this past November that we would do our first ever backyard renovation. I checked on Angie's List for landscaping and hardscaping companies to do our work, and decided to go with ARNOLD Masonry and Concrete because of their excellent Angie's list service record and because they were a one stop shop for all the work we wanted done. Our renovation included the following improvements: the construction of new Crab Orchard flagstone patio, the construction and staining of a 12' x 12' x 8' pergola, the installation of a 5' x 8' in-ground gardening area lined with stone, the construction of a cedar shadowbox fence to enclose the backyard, and new landscaping along the sides and back of the home. From start to finish, Scott Arnold (owner) was very responsive to my emails and questions; he listened to what I wanted done, and provided opinion and input that was very helpful in shaping the design. He gave me a clear and detailed contract, with turnkey pricing so that I knew exactly how much I'd be spending up-front. The work crews and subcontractors who did the work on my home were on time, hard-working, and polite. Scott knew what was happening with my project at all times, and came out several times to make sure that the work was going according to plan. The only delays that we had were the result of bad weather. I am very happy with the experience, and the results are fantastic! My backyard looks great!

Since we first looked at our house four years ago when we were buying, we saw potential in the yard. Over the years, we have interviewed several companies. None of which were able to make us comfortable enough to actually start the project. From the first time Scott Arnold came out to the house, we knew that he saw our vision and though it took us a bit of time to negotiate and ask questions our level of comfort never went away. The project went smoothly and started immediately. The only setback was a bit of rain which is unavoidable. We had the chance to watch some of his workers and were constantly impressed with their level of commitment to their craft. Plum, level, professional masonry. Stained fence that finishes the yard. Quality plants that will keep our yard blooming year round. A drainage system that stops our worries about whether our house or yard will flood each time it rains. Plus so much more. The before and after pictures are hard to believe but to see it in person is phenomenal. We will be able to enjoy our yard for years to come simply because Arnold took the time and care to meet and exceed our expectations. Thank you and your hard workers.

Scott Arnold's crew was both efficient and skilled, doing the job carefully but without dragging out the process over an extended period of time. Craftsmanship obviously was a priority and I also appreciated the fact they did an extremely good job cleaning up afterwards, which included powerwashing my driveway. My family and I are very happy with our new patio and I highly recommend Scott and his team to anyone desiring beautiful stonework for their home.
Description of work:
I hired Arnold Masonry and Concrete to design and construct a free-form crab orchard flagstone patio in my backyard. The design required some finesse as I wanted the patio to encircle a chinese pistachio tree. Also, the job site was a bit challenging given the grade of my back yard and a longstanding (but stable) sinkhole. Scott Arnold was able to compensate for these challenges with a solid design and first-rate workmanship.

We highly recommend Arnold Masonry and Concrete. Scott Arnold is extremely professional and detailed oriented. The work was done in a timely manner even in the face of poor weather conditions. Scott was on-site and overseeing the job on a regular basis. We would definitely call Scott again in the future as the need arises.

From the beginning, Arnold Masonry & Concrete was attentive and punctual. Every question or comment I had was immediately answered and addressed. Also, the ideas and suggestions provided were incredibly helpful. The design of the stairwell and the layout of the backyard are perfect. I could not have envisioned a better result. Scott and the crew were very easy to work with and worked on the project as though it was their own backyard. Scott met with me at each step and followed up as the project progressed on a daily if not hourly basis. In a way I dreaded doing this project and working with a contractor (due to some past remodel experiences) although I was excited about what I wanted to do. Finding Arnold Masonry & Concrete could not have been a more perfect fit. It was truly an enjoyable experience.

I was not happy with them. Their workers used the restroom in our yard and left toilet paper laying in yard. When we marked stones that we wanted them to work on with tape they took off the tape and left it laying in the yard. The owner was very professional but his workers were not. One of them snapped at my wife when she pointed out something that was not right and he started throwing something around.
Description of work:
They installed a crab orchard patio. Almost immediately there were cracks in the grout. They came out to try to repair some of the grout, but the grout didn't match. They came out a third time and said they would take out the grout so it would match and it still doesn't match.

We were very pleased with the quality of work, ease of doing business and overall professionalism of Scott Arnold and his crew. I would highly recommend them for any hardscape needs. Our exiting patio was a very tight space, but Arnold Masonry was able to blend the new work with the existing hardscape without much room to maneuver. We are very happy with the results, and the job was completed quickly. A great company to work with. You know exactly what you are getting.

The work was done on time, on budget and all of my questions were answered. When other companies were telling me it would take 1 to 2 weeks, they got the whole job done in 3.5 days. All of there employees were friendly and kind. They also did a great job of keeping me informed on where they stood with the project and what to expect in the coming days.
Description of work:
There was a lot of landscaping and concrete work to be done to my backyard. They took out an old falling retaining wall, which was very close to my house, leveled out the backyard so I don't even need one now and poured a larger patio.
